Like most people on the site I have looked at hundreds of paintings by professionals over the years , and yet occasionally I’m faced with one that has a sudden impact . This one made me pause and look at it for a long time , to use the gem gob smacked by it would be an understatement.
It’s by Edward Hersey , who is still around and I believe producing great art works.
He predominantly paints old farm scene and has made a good living from it .
Some of you will know that I love painting old tractors , rusty vehicles etc and old building , do I’m totally taken by his work. I will add a couple more , but ask the question who has had this sort of impact on you in the past and even more recently. I will add that they are a lot of painter on POL that I admire and love to see their work .

Not anyone I have been aware of Paul but thanks for pos5ing these. That first one of the shed interiors is fabulous everything in its place…including the hens .I agree with Sylvia Paul, they are terrific paintings. Thanks for posting them. My first influences were Vernon Ward and Rowland Hilder who's work was made into beautiful school prints.

Absolute knockout paintings, Dixie. What a delight to see such work. You ask who has had an impact on us, who's influenced us the most. I spend time browsing art, almost on a daily basis I find mind-blowing art. One artist who I really admire for his whole body of work is Anton Lomaev, a Russian illustrator. Here's a few examples...
I have this book, it's a thing of beauty, and a constant inspiration.
He paints everything beautifully. Principly he's a book illustrator. In my opinion, the pinnacle of art, combining, as it does, two of my most favorite things...books and art.

Thanks for responding Lew, I have not knowingly seen the work of Anton Lomaev but will look it up. I did think that you would like Hersey given the detailing in his work. I agree about book illustrators their work is often superb, some of the older books are works of art from the first page . I have a passion for books and particularly one with illustrations, though I read avidly any book, this come from being dyslexic, often as a youngster I would make my own stories from the illustrations. Books and art what more could we need to stimulate out brains , continue with you great artwork Lew as long as you are able.
