I find looking at the art of past watercolorists , very interesting , the way they worked and their ideas try Bernard Dunstant or leonard Squirrel I am sure these guys influenced Wesson and James Watson
Oh, what kind people there are out there in the painting world! Thank you so much for such understanding advice. I will try the 'splosh' method, and just take the pressure off myself. And looking and observing other's work, and enjoying that for the time being. I must tell myself that I don't HAVE to paint a picture that anyone will recognise. The paint, the paper, the colours, are just for me to indulge in at this time, that's all. Thank you again. What gems you all are, I can see that you must have been where I am at some point in your lives.
If you are interested here is a simple watercolour with a few colours only .... I have just popped on Y T https://youtu.be/95Zcbzt3-wM
Great demo Alan, and when I'm stuck in a rut I always like to watch your demonstrations - just seeing you take up the brush encourages me to do the same. In fact - confession time - I even find Bob Ross and William Alexander (so much the better painter, but let's not go down that road again) awaken the thirst - surprising maybe in view of all I've said against Ross, but I never doubted his enthusiasm for painting, even if I quailed at some of his methods and more particularly his materials. But no such danger with Alan, who presents none of those difficulties: I bet he's encouraged many people to have a go - you couldn't find anyone less stuffy or pompous, or more willing to share all he knows. It's good to watch a demonstration from someone you know isn't trying to sell you anything!
