As a new member I am puzzled about the classification of various members. What is the difference between a Prestige Member, a Respected Member, an Esteemed Member, and an Expert please? From what I can see, the various members who have these titles are all pretty expert, and I am sure are respected and esteemed.
And my second question relates to the blue squares beside some members names. What do they signify and how are they awarded? Just keen to learn more about the inner workings of my favourite website.
Thank-you.

The blue squares and forum rating are all to do with the number of your posts - the more you post, the more blue squares and the higher up those ratings you go.
The classifications are made up by whoever manages the forum pages; over at Guitar Noise, where I'm a Forum Moderator, I've made 7,942 posts which gives me a forum classification of "Guitar Lama".
Naturally, there's no quality control; you could impart great information every day or you could just post "I wouldn't do that" a thousand times and the result would be the same.

No idea Sylvia. I see I am an Esteemed User - wow - never been an 'Esteemed' before. Is there somewhere on the site that explains the classifications?
I'll have to post this to see how blues I've got.
Quick edit - I see I've got only one unblue square so perhaps when I get to 2.5 that'll turn blue. What happens after you've got a full house of blues?

You will become a "Prestige User" like Robert and Sylvia etc. Michael. Now for some REALLY INTERESTING AND EXCITING news - I have become not just an "Expert" member with 5 blues but an "Expert" member with 6 blues. Yes, you are an expert with 5 or 6 blues. And I am ASHAMED that none of us artists on this thread has put a name to the shade of blue used. I have got a "light ultramarine" blue the same shade as this.
Sandra, I wait with baited breath for you to earn your first ultramarine blue box!

It just means we've been around a long time and said a lot. I've moved beyond blue to squares I think are grey, but you can think are silver if you like..... I'm angling for gold; wonder if they do a gold..... Or red: red would be nice....
Sylvia and Phil Kendall were among the most prestigious contributors because they've been here for longer than any of us - but Phil fell out and re-registered under another name; Sylvia did the same - and so sadly went back to square one. A Queen of the site in all our memories, of course, but sadly unrecognized in terms of stars - well, into every life a little drizzle must drip.
What the gold achievements are, I don't know - there are bits of the site that don't seem to be fully functional as yet: or I just don't understand them.

I am enjoying this immensely, thank-you to everyone who has replied so far. I'll continue to keep an eye on this thread until it becomes clear there won't be any more posts. Michael raised the point about there being somewhere on the site that explains the classifications, if so I'd be interested to know. But as far as I'm concerned you're all pretty expert!
Adele I think it could be a while before I earn my first light ultramarine square as I don't post very often - wonder how many posts it takes???
