Has anyone heard anything about Syd? I know he was poorly but we haven't heard anything for a while and I was just wondering.

I have been wondering myself but never got round to asking. I do hope that he is recovering and will perhaps contact one of us to let us know he is well.

I've been wondering too, I really miss him from the Forum. I haven't liked to inquire in case bad news. Hopefully someone who knows him better might make contact?

Hopefully I am entirely wrong in this as I always enjoyed Syd's comments. I did a search on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and found a record of a Sydney Wallace Edward, aged 92, who passed away in 2018. No further details available on-line. The death was registered in Dundee, and Syd's profile shows him living in "Angus, country of Scotland'. Angus is just north of Dundee. I hope this is a case of 2+2=5 and there will be a message along the lines of Mark Twain's 'reports of my death are greatly exaggerated." A quick search of family announcements in the Angus/Dundee local press showed nothing. Perhaps some-one else can build upon this information, perhaps some-one who knew his age or middle name?
With Sarah, Phil, Ellen, Rose the dentist, and the granddaughter whose name I forget.

Oh dear - Syd was 92, and lived near Dundee. I'm afraid you may have answered the question .... how very sad, if so; he had suffered a serious illness, was much diminished in strength (as he told us) and it wouldn't be a tremendous surprise.

If this is right, it will be a sad loss to the forum as Syd was a straight talking participant and didn't beat around the bush, but had a sincere manner when replying to a post.

I think it's fairly clear that Syd has died, and I do wonder if there's any purpose in troubling his family now. His name was Sydney Wallace Edward, he was 92, he lived in Angus - frankly, the chances of there being two Sydney Wallace Edwards living in Angus are remote in the extreme. I really think we should leave it now.
