The latest issue arrived yesterday and apart from my published Star etter I did find a lot in it particularly with ref to the prize I get. However there was also a flyer from a holiday company. The deal sound very good and cheap....Hmmm! I am asking them if my wife and I can do the flight and accomodation and not take part in the daily coach trips all over the place as we are the types to do our own thingg. Also she doesn't like long coach trips and certainly not every day. I would like to be able to sketch where and when I want.. We await the answer.
I did congratulate you on your Star letter Derek, and a £50 voucher from Great Art is a super prize. As for the holiday flier, I didn't get that one, but there was a Jackson's Art brochure enclosed with my two mags.
Cheap holiday offers often turn out to be very expensive. A friend of mine once took up an offer which appeared to be too good to refuse. It cost him dearly.
Thanks Alan, make sure a white envelope isn't tucked in one of the mags. Mine was...the hoiday offer! Thanks Pat I know what you mean but apart from inflated prices in the hotel, which would be difficult to police on their part, I can't see it.
Yes Derek, there was a white envelope with no writing on it, I may retrieve it from the recycling bin and have a look now you've mentioned it. Like you, I like to do my own thing on holiday, I hate being told where I'm going today!
That was it mate...I nearly binned it. See what you think
It does look very appealing Derek. I've had a good scan through it all and I can't see any problems. It is presumably endorsed (to some degree but I may be wrong) by The Artist mag, and the price is really good which has got your attention. For a single person, there is another £200 plus for a single supplement, almost the same as the cost of the holiday at £230 pp based on two sharing. Even so, for a 5star hotel that's still not bad, inc flights and transfer etc. Great place Crete, loads of historic stuff to see and draw. The excursions are all free inc. entrance fees where applicable, so it would be worthwhile going on a few of them, sketchbook in hand.

I just presumed that one would have to endure a timeshare presentation, to achieve a price as low as that.
Did anyone notice that on the last page of The Leisure Painter is an article about one of the Artists? TONY WIGGINS who posts the most beautiful birds and flowers onto the Painters on line gallery The painting shown is PEONIES IN A CHINESE BOWL.. it is always nice to see artists work appreciated in print Don't you think? Tao
Since had a reply from the Holiday company saying it's not possible to have the trip without the excursions.
Actually, the excursions are all free, inc. entrance fees etc. (well that's what it says). There has to be some catch mind you, best left alone I feel. I wonder if they would force you onto the coach at gunpoint!, I doubt it...

We just didn't want to spend everyday traipsing round in a coach to see ruins. Can remember going on a totally FREE company visit to a firm, with wives etc to Holland, who our company dealt a lot with. On our free day on Saturday - virtually the whole party were going off to experience the red light district and were amazed that my wife and I had planned our own trip to the Concertgebow to hear the Dutch symphony Orchestra.
