The only problem I have with that sort of painting is - it makes me want to set fire to my brushes and take to something easier: no - I entirely agree with you, the more work we see the better, and it certainly doesn't have to be household names (how many artists these days ARE household names....). I saw one of many videos on either YouTube or Facebook some days ago, telling us that oil painting "is easy" - to which my reply consists of two words, one of such vulgarity that I wouldn't soil the eyes of PoL members with it. Yes, it's not too hard to pick up the basics - it's extremely hard to be this good at it.... a touch of realism would help these podcasters and "influencers". This, by the way, looks rather like Ventnor or parts thereof, my nearest town: though I'm pretty sure it isn't.I do like the Rob Pointing painting, Robert and would only approach such a scene with line and wash, that could be successful. Like you I find the so-called experts and podcasters frustrating especially when they produce a realistic painting or sketch in, say, 10 minutes and I'd be lucky to do similar in several hours. It puts me off attempting, I'm not sure if that's the intention.

This thread is about art that deserves more than a fleeting glimpse. I know that perhaps all art does, and heaven knows, some of these artists might already be well known. If so, then let’s say, more of a household name. ‘Darn it!’ … I just thought, everybody’s art deserves another look, doesn’t it? Anyway, let’s get off our horses and enjoy anything that strikes a chord. Rob Pointon below.This reminds me of those round mirrors, it's amazing, so creative and observed.

I think that anyone can be Artistic or creative it just finding that one thing that you can enjoy and sometimes even excell at. Unfortunately that option is not always available, that why Arts and Crafts in School or or clubs is so important for mental health and wellbeing. Well that's my theory any way 😃
