And another of his father, painted in 1955…
Hadn't seen this before, there's something so interesting about that pose. 
It is such a great pose I agree. As I recall, it was the first painting that he sold, for the princely sum of £10! He was approached by a friend who liked it, and Hockney sought the approval from his father  (the sitter), before agreeing to sell it… At auction today, I suspect that the sale price would buy you a small mansion in the Cotswolds..

Beautiful palette. Just looked her up, some lovely paintings with emphasis on light.
