Anybody been watching Fiona Bruce on this show? Last night was about a William Nicholson painting bought for £165,000 in 2006 and declared a fake by an "expert" on his work. The evidence for genuine was compelling and a lot of people disagree, it seems, with her verdict. Based on what they turned up, I be tempted to agree it was genuine (a view only, obviously) . Anybody watch?
No, I didn't see it but I've seen other programmes where the evidence against was flimsy at best, and yet they declared the paintings as probable fakes. Dubious stuff. I thought. Bri
I saw last night's episode the first time it was shown, as well as last night. As presenter Philip Mould said on Twitter this morning, they thought they'd done enough but in the year since the episode was originally shown nothing has come along to change the expert's mind. For the record, we liked the painting more than the "genuine" article.
I find these programmes very compelling as I have a keen interest in the whole faking thing and the forensic stuff fascinating . I was infuriated by the decision and as in other programmes in the series I had the distinct feeling that the so-called experts were just being stubborn in a bid to save their credibility . Expert - ex as in something on the way out - spert , a drip under pressure . Stephen Weight
Experts, ha, who needs em. They're so good that one of the "106 best Art of Dance Images for 2019" on Pinterest site is by........... me! How ridiculous is that? 😆
