Well, bugger would seem the apt response..... I saw one of your latest on Facebook just now, and you're still able to make a strong impression. I know there are two forms of macular degeneration, wet and dry, and that one's a bit less of a pain than the other one - but they're both bad news. Both my aunt (95 when she left us) and mum (94 and a bit when she followed) had this; I'm hoping I won't get it, but - many of us do. I know there are treatments, of limited effectiveness: my aunt had hers treated as best they could, my mother decided to stick with the vision she had rather than go for another op. A friend who had to give up driving in his 80s (a bit of a relief to other road users, be it said) told me that he now took taxis everywhere; he'd always thought this was terribly expensive, until he compared it with the cost of running a car. You're a bit isolated though, aren't you .... still; try not to let this clip your wings and tie you to the house.
If I could say anything more comforting I would - that I can't is the reason I've run on! You've survived an awful lot in the last few years, though - you'll deal with this.
