Newbee asking questions So after my last post just disappeared with out any warning or expiation or reason why I'm writing a new post. I need to buy a white oil paint Cremnizt white and this is mix 50% with Titanium white. I think the two white mixed gives a better Transparent white But will Titanium and flake white give me the same affect  I've also bought a Trans Yellow oxide and Trans oxide red and believe these are used for a Transparent glaze later in the painting.     I've also joined a online oil painting class/Tutorial

Welcome James there are a few people who can answer you  questions,  Robert is one of them he had a great deal of knowledge about most things to do with painting materials etc.  I’m looking forward to seeing some of your artwork on the gallery meanwhile enjoy your time painting.
Thank you Paul
Morning Paul - I don't know what happened to your lost post, but I do know something about the whites of which you speak. Yes, Cremnitz White and Titanium White can be a very useful mix; the former is lead chromate, the latter Titanium dioxide plus, very often (too often) Zinc Oxide.  Try to find a Titanium White which is just PW 6, and doesn't include PW 4 - Old Holland MAY offer it, but the PW 4 is not always declared.   The problem here is that Cremnitz White is now virtually impossible to obtain in Britain, thanks to highly restrictive rules called the REACH regulations.  Two former sources of the paint have been visited by officials and told that under those regulations, they cannot offer lead paint for sale.  I know of other sources which MAY provide lead-based paint; if you know of one, and have obtained it recently, I should be grateful if you would contact me, privately in the first instance since this is a delicate subject, on the following email address: [email protected].
Bumping this up again so James, whom I wrongly called Paul (I'm not at my bouncing best right now!) might see it and realize it was for him.
Yes Robert my name is James  So I have more white paint than I need but I have found my self owning Titanium white 200ml, Flake white 37ml and last just bought 1980 Gamblin Transparent White 37ml  So we will see if the above oil paint gives me the affect needed. I could order a lead Cremnitz white from overseas But it's expensive and I'm worried that it would go though customs hence looking for alternative from the UK. Good news My black canvas (x2)  has arrived now and the kitchen refit is nearly finished so I can start painting next week (Wednesday) is the finial day of kitchen fitting
