Yesterday I did a demo for a local art group using Yupo paper. Nice group happy time but was quite gobsmacked how every one ...well nearly everyon3 had a pic from a book or similar source to copy from...not even thir own pics. I had taken a bucket full of flowers for people to just help themselves , I also suggested doing a landscape or a forrest ..well trees ...we all know what they look like , 95 % of the group used pics from a book  and copied almost exactly... Nooooooooooooooooooo   My flowers were virtually unused  and my suggestions of looking out of the window were also ignored ,we live in an amazing area.  All my pieces I did from my knowledge of flowers and trees.   Is it just me being pedantic.  ?    I enjoyed my morning with lovely people...AND they paid me.  But I sometimes feel as though imagination and creating has gone out with the ark...

Lack of confidence and a possibility of failure I think. I know someone who tore everything up after a demo / workshop - couldn’t accept saying “ well, I made a mess of that! But next time…..” Sad.

The last workshop I did was at Hughenden manor in Buckinghamshire a beautifully location, plenty  of stuff in the grounds to sketch , photo, items from the collection etc . Eleven people attended seven choose items from the collection as it was quite wet out the others use iPhone for ideas . As Sylvia said look out the window at the magnificent landscape , the building etc . One did a cartoon dog , still they paid the National Trust . Well done Sylvia for doing the workshops and trying to stimulate people.
