I haven't been able to look at POL recently. This isn't the place for this, but the good people on POL have shown concern for me through difficult times in the past.  I won't be active on the site for some time, and feel I should explain why. My family have suffered a crushing tragedy, and life can never be the same.  My sweet, joyous, funny grandson is dead.  It's too hard to say more about that.  You'll understand I may not be able to respond to anything said here. I know time will ease things, but it seems impossible to do normal things like art right now.  The world seems a cruel dark place.

I am so, so sorry for you and your family Lewis.  My own grandson (5 years old) was diagnosed with leukaemia earlier this year.  I can't begin to imagine what your family must be going through but I know what the dread feels like.

How terrible!  My heart goes out to you, Lewis.  Our society is not good at dealing with death! We all think that we are almost immortal.  It is hard to believe that only 150 years ago 75% of under 5’s died.  In some underdeveloped countries now the average age is 15.  Which means that life expectancy is 30.  And Tony too, leukaemia is really bad.  I lost my brother in law to that awful disease.  I’m sure many of the POL participants will want to extend their compassion to you both, and we look forward to the time when you feel able to return to our community.  Best wishes to both you and your families in these difficult times.

Oh Lewis I can only imagine the pain and utter desolation that you and your family are feeling at this time, please accept my sincerest condolences, I hope you can find the strength to sustain you at this most terrible of times.

I can only add my sympathy Lewis.  Words are just not enough and my thoughts and sympathies go to you and all your family.   A young life cut so short is an absolute tragedy.
