It seems some people enter topics which are quite unrelated to the theme. Take “ paint like Turner” for instance….for the life of me I can’t relate some of the entries to this. Do they not read the “specs “ or am I missing something?
I’m in total agreement Marjorie, I only mentioned the exact same thing today - totally unrelated to Turner in style, colour and composition! Not all of them of course, there are some promising entries… for various reasons I have made the decision not to enter into the competition myself, that’s in case anyone was wondering why I haven’t, but I would love to of course! There is time left to enter, why not join in… that’s a message to everyone!

I can't find it - I don't really want to enter the competition, because I don't paint like Turner nor do I think I could, but... where izzit?
Ah - found it; under Win, not Competitions.  The majority of the entries shown are about as far from being "like Turner" as Bob Ross was from Rembrandt.  It seems that some saw the words "win" and "competition", and overlooked "Turner" altogether.
Have just had a wander through the entries I see just what you mean Marjorie.   Like Robert I don’t paint like Turner  but my daft eyes make everything misty….lolso I might stand a chance.   Go on Robert….dare you !
I've just put one on. My sketch of Saltburn Pier using the original charcoal sketch as reference from when I was there. It was a full moon and the weather was atrocious. Very much like the sketch. It was freezing, there was no one about, all too sensible to be out in weather like that. It was great to feel the awesome power of Mother Nature beginning to whip up a storm. Only for my Raynaud's and fear of my fingers dropping off, I would have stayed out there hours.
