Carole , unfortunately as people leave or stop posting for whatever reason there is no way of finding out what happened. It’s possibly to use the messaging system that is on the gallery under each person name , however it’s no guarantee that you will get a response , especially if the person has passed away etc . I’m talking  about the people who posted for long periods no as seems to be a trend at the moment where people join the forums/ gallery and post quite a bit for a short period then just stop and we don’t see them again. We are an aging community and quite a few staunch members have sadly not posted for a while, we have to make assumptions as to the reasons why , bit easier if we know someone is unwell or are one of the elder members but even then it’s guess work. Relative probably don’t know how to access the site and don’t think to inform us of the reason , can understand that if they are grieving or looking after their ill relative. I realise this doesn’t answer your question full but it the best I can offer and suspect that my fellow moderators will say much the same . I do keep in touch with a few people who no longer post but that’s because we messaged each other before they stopped posting for whatever reason, Sylvia is one who unfortunately due to deterioration eye sight is no longer able to access the forum or gallery.

Thank you for taking the time to write Paul. It is a little sad that we lose touch with such prolific artists, who give so much of their energy and time. As you say, POL is an ageing population so like myself, we have a limited active span, before things start to fall apart. The messaging system is a good suggestion and an area to be explored. Sorry to hear about Sylvia. I don’t know if you remember Jim Morrison  but I often wonder what happened to him as he was a huge contributor. Such is the nature of a digital, artists’ network, I suppose. We can only continue to go as far as we are able, until another wave of artists take our place.
Brett just to put the record straight, moderators only step in when it becomes far to personal and  it’s abusive etc  otherwise we let it run its course.   Yes, I appreciate that.

Your welcome Carole . I don’t know what’s happening with Jim as he suddenly stopped posting , I do know he was in the eighties and not having the best of health in the last couple of years. Sadly I assume he is painting in the big studio in the sky , helping Ruth Dolan and all the other past artist to paint the sky’s and sunsets for our enjoyment.
Thanks Brett .
