Hi Paul, Thank you so much for your response, I agree with your comments especially, 'No brush marks the paint to smooth and doesn't blend like it would if done by a real person' I always feel those brush strokes display a real human energy and engagement with the canvas, and 'lacks the mistakes or the oddity that a human being might add to their work.' It is the mistakes, those imperfections that make us human and gives the work real authenticity. I have sent these research questions to numerous people who have very kindly, like yourself responded with lots of interesting perspectives, it is a very contentious subject and one that is filled with passionate debate.   I'm really enjoying my interactions with Painters Online, I'm new here and it is great to see such incredible artwork.  I really loved viewing your art, especially 'Boats' I have an affinity as I used to go sailing, and 'Peeling Bark' feels beautifully layered, I have been working on some bark studies for a current project, but they are very rough at the moment.  Once again thank you so much for taking the time to share your view. Kind Regards Marcus
Hi Denise, Thank you for taking the time to respond to my questions, I agree with your point that being human makes us all 'unique and individual' and as you say 'AI is all the same'  During my research studies I came across the writings of Walter Benjamin who described this unique existence as 'the aura' and it feels like AI art is somehow missing this energy. As I have stated in previous replies these questions have been sent to many different people and the responses have been so positive, it is a subject that brings much passionate debate. Although I haven't posted any of my own work on here yet, I am enjoying viewing the incredible and inspiring work of others.  I really loved looking at your work 'Fierce Wave' a real favourite as it is so powerful and expressive. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your views With Kind Regards Marcus
Taking time out from my flu, to respond, if only to say, I won't give reasons why AI doesn't work well as art, lest the developers take these ideas on board and add to their algorthms.
Hi Norrette, Thank you so much for your response, and I fully respect your opinion.  I hope you are feeling much better soon.  Kind Regards Marcus
I think you need to post at least one picture of yours Marcus before you expect any more interaction from us.
Hi Peter, I fully appreciate you do not want to interact with me, which I absolutely respect.  I am a degree student currently very busy working on a final art project and thesis which is due in three weeks which is my focus at the moment and the reason I have not added any work or a profile picture which I have every intention of doing.  I was recommended to use this platform by my tutor as it was described as a positive and welcoming place for all. Until this point, my interactions with Painters online has been a really positive experience and I have enjoyed interacting with many artists, but the use of the word 'us' feels rather like bullying behaviour.   There is no obligation for anyone to make any comment on my research questions and I whole heartedly encourage alternative opinion or no opinion at all, and many have chosen to engage with me either on the forum or in direct messaging, and I am very  grateful for their support, so it is very unpleasant to read that unless I do what you suggest I will not receive anymore interaction. M. Really disappointed
Marcus , as we are all individuals on here it up to each and everyone of us to decide if we want to take part in a discussion or indeed a survey. No single individual including my fellow moderators has the right to tell someone what they must do to continue interacting. I sure Peter who is a well known and respected member was actually speaking about himself and not on behalf of the community. We have had lots of people asking for help and do if we can help them, sometimes we never get a response, it’s been quite pleasant having you come back and continuing the dialog . I think what Peter might have meant but I am only guessing is that it would d good to see some of your work, you have however given a good explanation as to why you haven’t posted anything as yet .  I’m pleased that your tutor recommended the site and it’s good to know that it has a positive reputation. We do try to keep thinks working well and of course there are several things going on , Work in Progress, Inspiration from Artist thread , Monthly Challenge to name a few . Do continue to visit the site and when your ready post your paintings and join in ,  e good to pass on to your friends and colleagues how you have found POL , we want to encourage more people to join in . It will be great if you let us know how your final project works out , best of luck .
Hmmm. I have some doubts about you, as will have been evident, but my suggestion so far as your own written work - I haven't of course seen any of your artwork - is concerned, is to aim for greater clarity.  Because if you're original set of questions wasn't written by AI, it looks as though it was; one noun, one adjective; one verb, one adverb would have helped you here.  Whether that approach would help in an examination depends on the nature of today's art education and what is required at degree level: I hope that concision would be appreciated...... I have no confidence that it is.  I can weave many words in an almost unending stream, and often do, but they ought to be generally comprehensible; the passage I quoted from your second question was as convoluted and impenetrable as an exotic form of knot on which one could break one's fingers.  The clearest thoughts are those put simply - AI doesn't do that because it doesn't particularly derive from thought; which brings us full circle .... if you are the genuine article, though: don't be put off; it's by exposing oneself to the scrutiny of others that one learns.
I see Paul has said much the same thing, in rather friendlier words: well, that's his nature.  Whereas mine is to suspect everything.  We don't wish to repel anyone, but have been exposed to a great deal of AI over the last few months, and its few attractions, if it has any, are definitely on the wane.
I only speak for myself, I have no official role.  Having fallen into the trap of nearly printing a picture before realising just in the time that it was more AI garbage I am very wary.  I should have said 'interaction from me'.

I have been told by a reliable source that Marcus is a bonafide mature student studying for his degree. So let’s just support him if he asks a and you are willing to do so . I do understand the frustration and feelings around AI and share some of them but it’s not helping you or anyone else if we jump to assumption that it’s all AI because of the grammar etc . I initially thought it might be based on past experiences , but once Marcus came back and thanked people for their input I changed my mind . Hopefully this is the last discussion regarding this post and both we and Marcus can move on to doing what we would much prefer doing producing artwork, or getting our degree sort out .  Peter than you for your post it’s appreciated and helpful.
