I have just taken this off my wall.  It had slipped in the frame very noticeably .it was in quite a wide cream mount wit a slim plain wood frame.  I want to update the frame .  My thoughts are no ,mount , but a very plain white  wooden frame  It's a watercolour and A2 .
That's lovely Sylvia, personally, I think they look better in a mount.
As it’s a reasonably large painting, Sylvia, my thoughts are the same as yours - no mount, but a very plain white wooden frame, but not too narrow (maybe around 1.5 inches wide?)

Thank youDenise and Jenny.... it had been in a mount Denise so I have just this second plonked my finger on Easie frame and ordered a plain white frame sans mount... great minds Jenny...
Impetuous, that's what you are: asking for advice and then within seconds making your own mind up.   You've probably made the right choice, but it's a good painting, mounted or not - so you were on to a winner from the outset.
Thanks Robert I did wait an hour .
I’ve only just seen it, for me, watercolour paintings need a mount, no exception and irrespective of size… But, I’m sure it will look most delightful in its new white frame, sans mount!
Lovely painting, as has been said. Yes, we know watercolours are trad with mounts but, with a wider frame, it will be ok because it’s a strong image. Show us the result.

Sorry, bit late for this Sylvia, but if you've certain types of photo software or app, it's possible to try different colours of framing or mounting on a scan or photo of your painting, to see the effect.  I use a 7 year old copy of photoshop elements which is a cheaper version of the real thing.  Others are available, sometimes free. Love the painting, gorgeous colours
Thank you Norrette that is kind of you.   Being me I had already taken the plunge and ordered my new frame.   It arrived this morning so have just spent a happy hour swearing at it as I put it together.   Easy frame are excellent but their packaging is made to defeat the most experienced criminals...certainly my daft fingers and wonky eyes.   Anyhow all in place .  Just taken this of it hanging.  Sorry about reflections and I have managed to bleach some colour from the painting faffing around getting shot of the reflections.   I do like the new frame it has given it a new lease of life.  Ta for all your helpfulness. Robert if I remember rightly the white on the trunks is. either oil pastel or crayon. Bit of a cheat.
