Has anyone had any experience with the M.A.D.S. Art Gallery in Milan. I'm like Sylvia and not use to instagram. I just noticed a message from the curator that was sent to me three days ago and I only came across it by accident. To cut it short, they said they had noticed some artworks, for their next art exhibition, "YELLOW", 28th April. They said they are expressive and particular and think they would add value to the exhibition. Well, I don't know what to make of it and you are the only artists I can turn too for advice. I sent a brief message back asking what it would involve, thanks for your interest. Regards. I have had quick look at the Gallery but I don't know what to make of it. What would you make of it. Thanks.
I would suspect they will ask you for money. Sometimes people are drawn in because they can add to a CV that they exhibited in a particular gallery….you pay for the privilege and that’s how they pay for their exhibition and make money, Even if your paintings are viewed digitally you will have to pay. Look up “ Vanity Gallery” and this will explain. It’s just like self publishing a novel. Cynical? Yes…Of course you also have the expense of sending your paintings too. Personally, I would steer clear.

Yes, I'm always on the cynical side, I've noticed you get lots of people wanting to promote your work for a fee. You get loads of them on instagram. I thought as much, that's why I've asked for more details but thanked them politely. Thanks Marjorie.
I’ve had similar correspondence in the past, but I can’t remember what name they went under, one not too long ago if I’m not mistaken! Marjorie is right, proceed with caution because it will end up costing you money, and probably your paintings! Genuine opportunities just don’t come knocking on your door that easily, artists have to do the hard miles when it comes to gallery acceptance, and I speak from experience here. My advice… Avoid like the plague!

Thanks Alan, if they contact me again,  I will say, thanks but no thanks.
Sounds like good advice.   Denise's query raises a question for me.  Instagram.  Denise and Sylvia are on it.  What is Instagram about, is it only of use to people trying to sell work? When you look it up it's described as a 'wildly popular' photo sharing app.  What's the point for artists?
My thoughts exactly Lew .I haven't a clue.  I joined because a gallery had set up a site to sell paintings to raise funds help Ukraine .I thought it was on Face book which I use a lot and enjoy. Plus I wanted to help.  Then discovered it was on Instagram. The people organising it helped me put my painting on the site then suddenly I am on Instagram.  A lot of money appears to have been raised by Give with Art. My poor pic seems to have vanished into the ether...or no one liked it enough to buy it.  I have raised over three hundred pounds on my own by making and selling my cards Sunflowers for the Ukraine.   But no I don't understand it either. 🌻
I always delete them, Denise. I had one from an American gallery last year, I declined. To be fair though, they did get back to me and thanked me for my reply! I always think, if it sounds too good to be true…..there’s a catch.
I was offered an exhibition in New York, but they wanted thousands of dollars.  It was easy to decide to ignore them.
