..The interest being that shown by other viewers to your work and particularly the types that draw most views. Going through my files here, hunting for a particular image, i was quite staggered at the topics that people seem to prefer. Animals, children and birds are always popular, but just going off my own work, places of interest and landmarks figure well. A quite simple original watercolour sketch of mine of Jane Austen at work has been view in excess of 800 times, a lot more than most others ? "Giants Causeway" and "Fingal's Cave" also have high viewing in my case. I just found it interesting to see preferences (which are diverse and widely different generally anyway.) Have you noticed this preference trend in your work, as surely it must affect what you paint in some way? I know time also will have an effect on numbers.

Yes Jim, I agree. I too recently searched for a picture I'd posted some time back (I seem to have lost the original). That's when I discovered that POL was showing the number of views for ALL your pictures. Previously they only showed the five most viewed. I found it interesting. Many of the pictures I liked didn't seem to rate with the viewers, relatively speaking. So I'm none the wiser about which type of picture is 'best liked' for want of a better expression. I recently did a series about Ron and Nelly's Cruise...12 pages...the average views for them seem to be about 120. But one page (Page 4) has had 862 views. I can only assume somebody has posted it elsewhere...facebook, or something. I didn't, I'm not on Facebook. I'm pretty certain POL didn't either...they don't put my stuff on their social media pages. The odd thing is, it's not one of the better pages as far as I'm concerned.
Like you I've noticed, many older pictures have more views...I suppose that's to be expected. But who is looking at them? If it were POL members, you might expect the odd comment. Occasionally, when looking at other POL member's work, I will comment on a older picture. But I don't get any.
A recent post about a fat ballerina (Tutu much), has 254 views; far more than others of a similar type posted recently. I don't think this knowledge (or rather, lack of knowledge) affects what I paint. Themes tend to occur to me, or I'll see, read, or hear something that gets me going. So I'm not about to produce more fat ballerinas because it seemed to be liked.
So, I'm none the wiser about what people prefer. I like that. I'm not about to start making pictures because people 'might' like them. The attraction of drawing and painting is doing my own thing.
I'm pleased that people do view my work, be it just a few or many.
