Hi all
I recently acquired this small and very skilled watercolour, initialled CL.B 1941 (I think that is the initials)
Does anyone recognise this work or can assist identifying? Any assistance much appreciated!
I am selling this picture on ebay, which I do on some paintings from time to time. I think it is Claus Becker but I cannot be 100% certain and would like the benefit of the knowledge of the members on this site please!
Many Thanks in advance.
Matt

I guess I got annoyed as the chap is a dealer and has sold 613 pieces already on Ebay. With another 130 odd for sale. It would be nice for us to know this before we waste time researching what someone already knows. I guess I fear this place is going used as a selling opportunity, in which case, it may be shortlived.

Hi Norette, I am not quite sure what I have done to offend you but no I am not a dealer in point of fact. Much like probably most people on eBay I (we actually as we do it as a family) sell to supplement our incomes. The vast majority of the items I have on eBay are items within my father's collection who has been an antique collector for 50 years, which we sell to raise money for the family and to work through a vast collection of art, antiques and ephemera. He was a dealer 25 years ago. He occasionally buys as do I and we sell on eBay. Not quite sure why I am explaining this, but seems I need to. I am more than happy to leave this site as the welcome has been mixed! I had a genuine question I hoped to get an answer from the members. You may be a site expert but not perhaps an expert in people or their backgrounds! Not once have you actually attempted to answer my actual question. Please be assured that I will never use this site to sell anything. I think the painting is by Claus Becker but I am not an art expert, hence my question which I am repeating.

I don’t think anyone on the site is that qualified to give you a definitive answer, all the people who can offer help have already done so . My suggestion would be to take it to a dealers but that will cost of course .
As to Norette’s comments I can fully understand where she is coming from as we seem recently to have a lot of people coming on the forum purely to as about a painting that ultimately they wish to sell. No matter how you describe your selling paintings etc you are still selling and that will irritate some folk as it can feel you are trying too push sales .
Norette is a valued member of the site and believe me you comment regarding her lack of understanding people is very wrong , for that comment alone you will find people less interested in helping you. It doesn’t pay to be insulting to long established forum members, but I can understand your feeling .
The site is where we discussed things about our own work and look at artists work not valuing their paintings. We are lucky to have a couple of people Robert and Alan who are very knowledgeable and can often give a name to painting but they will be the first to say they knowledge is limited.
I don’t think you are going to get a better answer than you already have, best to let it go .
