I was shocked and annoyed to see this rubbish on the banner. I feel reluctant currently to put anything on the gallery as I would not want to see my work “framed” by this irritating stuff. I’m sure I’m not the only one to feel this way.
In some ways it's fortunate that one made the random banner.  Now at least Warners might understand how it is damaging their 'brand' Not sure their advertisers are happy about it either...

I can understand that feeling Tessa and agree that others must feel the same way .Jim mentioned how it’s pushing paintings off the front page of the gallery very quickly as well , this unfortunately happens a lot when we get someone multi posting their work . It only needs two people multi posting and the page is just about taken up by them alone .  I think as we have had a really bad bout of spam on the forum and gallery out patience is wearing thin , unfortunately it’s happened at the later end of the week and therefore it’s taking longer to get it removed.  Please give Dawn and the techs time to get it under control, they must get as  frustrated as we do .
Norrette makes a good point about the advertising the company’s pay to display their products but are out done by the spammers who get it for free .  It’s been said several times make the signing up more difficult with a delay on posting, it won’t cure the issue but it’s a big initial deterrent.

I’m not really tech savvy but isn’t it possible for someone centrally to check the site throughout the day and to remove anything that is not art work. Like many I’m getting a bit reluctant to put my work online when you start seeing illegal material coming on site. I would certainly not recommend any of my friends in my art groups to join POL at the moment.
Are other sites targeted in this way?    I do sometimes wonder if it is malicionous.
It is good to see that it has all now been removed.   But on the subject of spammy things and illegal activity.  I have been a member of an “Older Artists” Facebook group.  However I have recently been approached by 2 people, impersonating my real friends, suggesting that I apply for funding, via messenger.  The funding programmes that they mention are USA based, so lights flashed immediately.  I thought that some USA thief is after my bank account details.  As the Older Artist group is the only US one that I belonged to, I put a warning up on the Facebook page.  It was removed in a couple of hours as it did not comply with their rules, I.e. it did not contain art.
Yes Sylvia apparently other sites are getting hit as well . Ooh sounds very dodgy Linda such a pity they removed your warning in-fact how silly of them certainly not considering it’s member safety.
All the weekend spam was removed from the gallery first thing this morning. We do check every day when working but this lot crept in while no one was around unfortunately. We are looking at ways in which this sort of thing might be prevented but it's not an easy fix!
Thanks Dawn and all the team , it’s a nightmare for all of us including you guys and I appreciate your doing your best with the facilities you have at hand . We moderators will continue to do the best we can and continue to support you efforts .
Easy fix maybe. One post a day at weekends on gallery. Newcomers only have weekdays until satisfactory ident. No money wasted then.  Delete  the fake account as they post bad stuff.
Some more has just arrived! 🤬
