Bonjour, The French artist Aldéhy began his career as a painter in 1975 in the South Pacific (Vanuatu). Back from the Amazon after spending 5 years in an isolated village in the land of the N'Djouka from 2013 to 2018, he set up his workshop in Soustons in the Landes.       His field is painting and drawing, a mystical, figurative, narrative and symbolic painting. The particularity of Aldéhy is to create thematic exhibitions.       Sincerely, have a nice day, https://www.singulart.com/en/artist/aldehy-13005?view=serie Aldehy does not use AI it only uses paint and brushes on synthetic panels (komacel)

It seems strangely familiar to a painting in the Louvre….
Two of this artist’s previous posts on the gallery were also almost copies of famous paintings.

Chatillon are you Aldéhy? I am unsure from your wording if you are speaking about yourself in the third person or you are posting someone else's work. Lots of artists paint the masters and many do new and sometimes humorous takes on them, I recall seeing a pug with pearl earring somewhere.  Your painting seems to fall into that category. However it is considered good form to acknowledge the original artist. Just say after **insert artists name**. Then everyone will know what's what. Maybe add a bit of information about how you go about manipulating the original reference before you paint your version. If that is done with the like of Photoshop say so because that is what is making people think you are using AI.
Aldehy can be found on the  SingularArt website: the painting above is one of his "Détournements" - among other things, he tweaks old paintings.  The author of this one isn't known, so can't be acknowledged - the title of the original is shown on the website. It isn't, apparently, AI. Aldéhy has been doing this for some time - born in 1956, so not a new artist trying to pass off digital work.  Whether one likes his work or not is another question entirely, but he is genuine.
My apologies, I hadn't realised this thread already existed.

I agree totally with Collette. Acknowledge your source!
The artist's name in this case is not known; M. Aldéhy has however identified the painting on the other website = what's it called... SingularArt.  I think he identified it on the Gallery, too, didn't he?   It's good to be on the alert, given what we've suffered over recent months, but I think the concerns in this case aren't justified.
I am uncomfortable when the painting is posted with a direct link to a website selling pictures. That is not what POL is for and implies that the painting has not been posted by the artist, especially as it says it was painted in 2004. I am also concerned when one of this artists pictures is for sale on an American website for $16,000.  Hardly a typical member of POL (sadly) !  If the artist as an individual wants to post his pictures that's fine, come and join us, but this looks fishy to me. Why has an artist who can command $16,000 for a picture got no online presence outside these websites, no Wikipedia page and no other information that I can find.  Why is his work being posted by an online shop? Sorry, I remain to be convinced.
So agree Peter.  ,plus apparently copied , no communication...
Peut-etre - il ne parle pas anglais? Et certainement, mon French est bloody awful, but it's been a long time since that A level.  That I didn't get.....Dommage, eh?
