Many friends have asked me if I ever had any art training (no, I’ve only very recently started artistic endeavours) or artists in the family. Whilst I knew my father could wield a pencil, that was as far as I knew of any familial artistic bent. Until today. I was having a clear out & happened across a bag of my Uncle’s possessions, who passed many years ago. I’ve poked my nose into this bag before, never really got beyond family photos and it’s a little too painful to spend much time in there. This time, I ignored the photos and looked in various document envelopes, which included newspapers from 1934. And an envelope addressed to me which I’d not seen before.
Inside this envelope was a sketchbook. There isn’t a name, nor any of the sketches signed. There is a drawing of a lady, annotated ‘My Wife 23/7/23’ so I guess this belonged to my grandfather. I thought I’d share a few of the sketches, perhaps the creator would be pleased to have his work seen on such a mysterious platform as the internet..... thank you grandfather, not gone, just out of sight.

Wow, Jacqueline, that is brilliant you found this.
What a great piece of family history find you have in that sketch book, you must be thrilled.
A couple of years ago something similar happened to me when i found within my Granny's documents and photo's a postcard written to her from my granddad that i never knew, it was written from the front in France over 100 years ago!
To see his writing and read his words was amazing and very moving. So i know a little of how you must feel about finding this.
