I just posted a new sketch made in about 30 min. I started immediately in ink with a watersoluble Stabilo point 88 marker, gave it a wash with clear water and then added "colour" with some Nescafé instant coffee. All comments in the Gallery are very, very welcome. Thanks for taking the time to have a look. :) Mia

Well Mia, I think we sketched the same village, but from a different angle. I did a 15 minute pen sketch on Bristol board paper at the time in the Dordogne area of France. When I got it home, I tried to add colour. That is where it all went wrong. Bristol Board does not seem to like coloured pencil, but as it was watercolour pencil, then I added water. The result looked a bit Quinten Blake, with no depth, so I then started to add watercolour. It still looked flat, but darker flat, so I added some gouache. The result looked like a good example of how not to paint a watercolour.
