Just wondered if any of you have had a moment/event/gallery visit that has changed your perspective of art in some way? I had one about 15 years ago when I was a mature A-level art student. We visited galleries in London and I saw Bill Viola's video 'Nantes Tryptych'; I was transfixed and, in a few moments, I could feel a change in me. It was like sudden realization that I could understand what he was aiming at, his thinking behind it. It really opened my mind to other types of art and to paintings other than the great masters/impressionists, etc. I still don't understand Jackson Pollock, heaps of poo, unmade beds, etc but I am more receptive to other ideas. I loved '30 pieces of silver' in the Tate Modern too. Anyone else had one? Or is it just me!!
