My black Indian Ink has done something terrible in its pot and is now the consistency of congealed porridge.  Is there any way to salvage it? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Think it’s died a death.  Throw away and buy a nice new pot.
I agree with Sylvia,  it’s not worth attempting to use it or recovering it, it’s to messy to use and could not be recovered properly.
Oh desr! Thank you both anyway for replying.
Mine is solid and cannot be revived, the final death.  Treat yourself to a new pot as I will.
Real Indian ink - shellac based - can sometimes be revived by stirring it (acrylic ink shouldn't get into the state you describe, so I presume you're using the real thing).  Take a cocktail stick or something, stir and keep stirring until the resistance eases (if it's going to).  You can also shake the bottle, ensuring you keep a very firm grip on the cap - then let it rest for a bit and have another good stir. Beyond a certain point, though - it's not going to get any better; time for a nice new bottle.  I.e. once it's gone really thick, and probably lumpy, it's never going to flow properly off the nib or brush and it'll just frustrate you to try persevering with it.  Give it a shake, give it a stir, but don't engage in a losing battle with it.
For shellac based Indian ink, you can add isopropyl alcohol or meths if you have to hand but don't go out and buy as probably as cheap to replace ink.
Thank you all - I’ve tried shaking and stirring but there’s nothing happening , and there’s no meths in the house -time for a new pot!
