The point about ready mades is to pose the question "what is art?" Duchamp did this with the urinal and the bottle rack nearly one hundred years ago. He was asking if I put these objects in an art gallery does this make them art? One could say the same about the suit. On the back of your bedroom door it isn't, hanging in a gallery it is, or at least deserves to be considered as such. However, does the question need asking over and over again? Beware the ready made, it is often the last refuge of the talentless. Although I am not making any aspersions about this particular piece.
Duchamp was taking the pi$$ and art has gone down the toilet since then (lol)
He was clearly round the bend but he wiped all his critics with it and ended up flushed with success - time to pull the chain on this one !!
