These are poppies of course, but not as I recognize them - there are many varieties, in a range of gorgeous colours, but it's the blood red ones that I like - even though the colour is so strong it can ruin your painting in five minutes. Fabulous flowers, though, in all of their manifestations - memo to self: paint more poppies!
Is the real challenge though, painting pansies? How do you get their fantastic depth of colour with mere paint?

These are a perennial poppy give to me years ago by a late neighbour. Problem is the can take over the garden the heads are the size of a side plate and can be a bit bigger. The seed heads are very large but don’t contain seeds .
Hope you will do a painting of your opium poopies when they are out , my poppies are alongside foxglove and delphinium.
