I wish I had the patience to paint flowers, I wouldn’t be able to resist the papery quality of these poppies. If anyone would like to use the photos for painting subjects,  feel free.
They are gorgeous Fiona, I might just have to do another poppy painting looking at these.
You can perhaps make the image larger on your computer in some way Denise, but it may effect the quality, I only took them on my phone. I might have a go myself!
I think both of you would make a great job of painting them and it would be very interesting to see the different styles etc, Go for it Fiona and Denise .
These are poppies of course, but not as I recognize them - there are many varieties, in a range of gorgeous colours, but it's the blood red ones that I like - even though the colour is so strong it can ruin your painting in five minutes.  Fabulous flowers, though, in all of their manifestations - memo to self: paint more poppies!   Is the real challenge though, painting pansies?  How do you get their fantastic depth of colour with mere paint?
How about you having a go also Paul?  Robert, I believe they are Meconopsis  Cambrica ….Welsh Poppy. I also have the blood red ones but this year they are far from flowering at the moment.
Might have a go Fiona here are some Poppy’s  growing in my garden .
These are gorgeous Paul!   I’m waiting for the opium poppies in my garden to flower…..everything is so late this year! I never know what they will be like until they flower because of the cross pollination……exciting!
These are a perennial poppy give to me years ago by a late neighbour.  Problem is the can take over the garden  the heads are the size of a side plate and can be a bit bigger.  The seed heads are very large but don’t contain seeds . Hope you will do a painting of your opium poopies when they are out , my poppies are alongside  foxglove and delphinium.
what lovely photos of poppies and flowers. I have attempted Fiona s Welsh poppies, think I should have added a back ground.
Such wonderful photo's of one of my favourite flowers. I was so inspired by one of Paul's pictures, I had to sketch it. No colour but I hope I caught the papery texture of it. :) Mia
Paul’s poppies, couldn’t resist. This is on Belle Arti canvas pad, it’s actual canvas and each page is gummed down. Didn’t quite have the vibrant red.
