Makes you gasp, doesn't he?  Why I wonder had I never heard of this (incidentally very long-lived) gentleman before?  The small picture up above, of the old character with a pipe peeling something into a bowl (it's too small for my ageing eyes to pick out the detail) reminds me of my great grandfather;  and I particularly like the painting of the gent with his pocket-watch collection, which reminds me very much of my own - watches, chains, fobs, laid out on the table for a glittery things appraisal session!  Very much my sort of thing....   The old chap in the last of the paintings posted - just wonderful: comical, but redolent of so much of our history in just one pose in a working man's sitting-room.
The old fella is peeling his spuds Robert , it’s on of the dig for victory paintings . Yes he does make you gasp his work is so so good. It also make me wonder what’s out here that we haven’t seen before, I’m certainly picking up a lot of artist to post on the thread . Hopefully there will be other artist that we haven’t seen before and we can admire their work .
Incredible work, I'd love to see them 'in the flesh,' I could study them for hours. Rather sad that he isn't better known or maybe he is and it's me being ignorant, so glad he's been brought to my attention.
I have to agree, his work is very detailed and I can only think of the extraordinary eyesight, he must have had, to paint it all in.
From what I can gather Russell he isn’t that well know these days , so it’s not your being ignorant. He painted fro a long time Denise and given that age affects our sight he did a superb job.
