Welcome to this week Inspiration thread , the featuring artists this week are : Jilly Henderson and Even Ulving . Jenny will start the week with her introduction to Jilly Henderson, on Wednesday I will introduce Even Ulving . JILLY HENDERSON is a Scottish illustrator and designer.  She studied graphic design and printmaking at DJCA Art College in Dundee, where she mainly focused on printmaking.  After graduating and working in graphic design for several years she chose to forge her own path as an artist. Her style of painting (which she likes to describe as Artwork to Make You Smile) has evolved over the decades and has become her own unique style recognisable for its whimsical and quirky take on life and nature.  She works in pencil, pen and ink, watercolour and gold leaf to create her delicate artwork.  (Hares are a favourite subject.)

Well I do love a hare, and these do make me smile! Thanks Jenny. I like her use of the circular shape, and her work is very appealing. I will look her up.

Evan Ulving 1863 - 1952 was a Norwegian artist who studied in Kristiania from 1883-1884 he then studied at the Academy of Fine Art in Munich  1885-86 before moving to study at the Academy Julian in Paris in 1897. From 1893 he was settled and worked in Helgoland where he painted motives from Nordland, he also painted altarpieces for seven churches in the region. Ulving painted scenes pf Florence , Verona, Rome , Naples and Lake Garda.  I have selected a mixed bag of his painting , some of his seascapes are very similar to those of Lars Lorin who I featured last week. There are quite a few scenes online of of his paintings showing women indoors knitting .

I’ve had a look at his work and this is the one which appeals to me the most.  I like the warm foreground colours against the backdrop of the snow covered mountains.

An interesting find, though he seems to have been called Even not Evan.  I rather like this one which is, I think, a slightly different view to the painting of Lofoten chosen by Jenny.
