A notable contrast between the work of these artists. Excellent choices.
JULIETTE BELMONTE was born (1976) in Costa Rica, moved to the US as a child, and is now based in Sacramento.  One of 7 children, her early life was very peripatetic and while she wasn’t very interested in school, she studied graphic design at college but never used her degree, and instead pursued a career in painting.  Her nomadic sensibility and creative yearning eventually led her to study at the Art Institutes of Fort Lauderdale and Chicago, and the Art Students League of New York. A mixed media artist known for her textured, vintage look portraits, she draws inspiration from the Victorian and Edwardian eras, creating portraits that feel both historical and contemporary.   She works with oil, acrylic, collage and found objects and mixes traditional painting techniques with abstract components.  The collage element of her work includes, among other things, old sheet music and patterned fabrics. Her subjects are drawn from historical photos, people she encounters in daily life, as well as her lively imagination.  Her subjects’ stories are woven into the canvases on which they live  - what inspires her are the underlying emotional stories, conveyed by their expressions or posture, and she will often spend an entire day working on one aspect such as the eyes to ensure the expression is right.  Her work varies widely in size, from small works of 12 x 16” to large scale pieces exceeding 60”.

This artist paints people in a realistic yet very individual and decorative way.  Big pluses for me.  A great find.  A WOW from me!
Some beautiful and skilled artwork from this very talented artist, thank Jenny I will have a look at more on line.
An inspired choice Jenny, love her individual style, great introduction too. Many thanks.
Another lovely and impressive body of work Jenny. Thanks for the introduction. At first glance I was reminded of the style of Christian Hook who won PAOTY a few years ago. I like this intrusion of ares of colour into the initial portrait. The use of collage certainly works well here.
Some I picked out , I find it difficult to know if I’ve seen a particular one before as I get confused with all the added detail.
More fine examples Paul.  On most she likes to go for a tightly cropped picture.  I find it appealing.
Very talented artist, I really like her work
Like the expressive style of her work.
