Welcome to this weekend bonus artist thread , it’s been difficult getting information about this weekend’s artist , very little information about him on the internet . Ronald Birch, born in the 20th century , a popular and much admired British painter who was active in the 1970s. His fluid and masterly handling of watercolour the traditional form of British landscape painting, captures the  landscape, villages and towns with tremendous skill and atmosphere. Well that all I could find out about him , hopefully one of you who knows how to search the internet better will come up with more information. In the meantime I hope you enjoy m selection of his artwork.
I've just done an extensive search and can find no further biography than what you given.  I like the work. Very British.
A few more from this artist .
I am wondering how well-known he would have been even at the height of his powers and, if he had any, fame.  Judging by the work shown, he was competent - but no Wesson or Seago; I'd put most of these down as the work of a talented amateur: the last one of the boy playing a guitar is not a great drawing; not saying I'd have done better, but the legs do seem a bit unlikely....  This might explain why he can't be found on the internet, but - see my other post on disappeared artists.... many have gone who deserved to endure, because of the way we've abandoned paper for digital memories: even publishers and some newspapers have destroyed part of their archive - and that's a mistake, because you never know when you might need access to it. Of these paintings, I do like the very first one:** the rest are a bit average, to be brutally honest: and Brutality is my middle name.....  ** By "the very first one", I actually meant the first one of the second tranche.
