Welcome to this weekends bonus artist  thread , given what going on in our crazy world I thought something lighthearted would be in order. My choice of artist this weekend is : Peter Sheeler, a self taught artist who creates watercolour, ink and pencil sketches. His works includes travel sketches , cityscapes and rural scenes. He started painting after a career as an academic, teaching and researching  modern literature and culture. I hope you enjoy his work and the selection I have made.
They are super paintings Paul  the colour and simple lines are a joy thanks.
A very pleasing selection Dixie, and I agree with Sylvia. I like this style.
I just adore his work. But I would wouldn't I.  Little houses in pen and ink etc. Lots of influences. A great choice.
Before I moved to Somerset eleven years ago we lived in a place between Lewes and brighton. Peter Sheeler lived nearby in Ringmer with his wife Liz. I just love his style. So glad you thought to show him.
I admire every one of Paul’s selection, especially the more whimsical paintings.
Great choice, Paul, love his style and all of the work you’ve shown.
I just watched on YouTube one of his videos on how to paint Colourful Fall Foliage and a Shadowed Barn. Interesting to see his method and to appreciate the difference a little shadow in the correct place, can make. I think his style is deceptively simple. I don’t know how to create a link but easy to find and there are many to view.
Simple, elegant, quirky and delightful.  Here's a couple chosen more or less at random from his Instagram pages.
I'm going to look for that Tessa. Being a pen,ink and wash girl, I just love his work.
Thanks for the information Tessa, some more of his work, I’m really liking his style very relaxed looking but not as easy as it looks to get such a great finish.
