Good evening and welcome to the Inspiration fro Artists thread , I have taken the liberty of changing one of the artists this week as whilst I was preparing to present Val Byrne I realised he had a son Roland Byrne who is also a very accomplished artist. I am in the process of rewriting the list of featuring artists and will add IM Kilpatrick at another time .  Val Byrne  born in Dublin in 1936 , He studied Art and Architecture at University College Dublin where he graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree. In the late 1980s Val retired from his Architectural practice and returned full time to his love of painting. His contemporary paintings include the bright colours of the buildings which are now days  characteristic of the towns , villages and harbours around Ireland. Val always sought to include in his paintings a degree of quirkiness and the absurd. He always says “ if there is a wobbly lamppost with straggling wires in the scene I leave it in “. I hope you enjoy the selection of his artwork that I have made, please look on line and find some you particularly like and add it to the thread.
Great.  Something different.  I love the wonky landscapes.  This series has shown us many shall we say 'conventional' landscapes in a variety of styles, it's good to see something this quirky.  Love the 'drink beer, save water' pic above.  Here's a few I like, but he's not 'just' about landscape... An artist making a variety of work (including 'straight' landscapes), he's original, and playful.  A great find.
When I first came across him a few months back I thought I bet Lew likes this artist , made my day knowing that you are enjoying his work .
Certainly a variety of subjects and styles.  An interesting artist - a few that I’ve picked out.

Are these all Val Byrne's?  The variety is astounding.  I love the photograph of him, with the brush between his teeth - he looks just as mischievous and playful as his work leads you to expect.
I included the photo Robert as his look had a  mischievous , enjoying life look .
A few more of his excellent paintings , just hope I haven duplicated them.
What an extraordinary range of styles and subjects.  If you came across them in isolation you would never believe that they were all done by the same hand.
I just love the painting of the gentleman sitting in the pub and the shard of light coming through the window. A lovely range of paintings.
Sorry I’m a bit late in posting todays artist trying to do a simple task that turned into a major project.  Roland Byrne was born in Dublin and is the son of Val Byrne who’s work wee looked at earlier this week, Roland is a full time artist who lives and works in Ireland. He specialises in both watercolorist and oil landscapes , his work is a combination of fine art techniques coupled with his own innovative methods. You can view some of  his artwork in his gallery here on POL. I hope you enjoy my choices of his artwork and find some that you particularly like and add to the selection.
A few more of his excellent paintings .

Would the last one be Lanyon Quoit?  So much depends not so much on the subject, as the treatment given to it: and that, of course, is where the artistry lies.
