Morisot's Harbour at Lorient is one of my favourite paintings, and the first print I ever bought.
Died tragically young - her work is very French, very impressionistic; it does look as though she got the paint down, and didn't fiddle with it - there's a lot of direct brush drawing here.
Lovely work from a talented painter. This is The Cradle which is a painting of her sister and child.
I do like that painting you picked out Tony it excellent, nice choice Tessa the look on the mothers face tell of love and care . A few more of her paintings I’ve gone for the landscapes a bit more but they nearly all have figures in them as well.
Lovely choice Dixie. Her paintings are very restful and pleasing to look at. That last one is gorgeous.
Interesting that I’ve picked mostly her studies of people - and women seem to be her focus, her recording of her everyday life. I do like Tony’s choice though.
Some excellent choices Marjorie. I must admit to not been a great fan of the impressionists , but over the last years seeing so many different artist has changed my views quite a bit . The painting displayed above are excellent and I am really enjoying them .
