An informative opening, Sandra. The paintings you have posted are wonderful dramatic landscapes. Is the second painting of Milford Sound? Seeing the addition of human life gives perspective to his work.
Another very skilful artist.  Impressive work.  I  prefer those with animals.  Landscapes without signs of life look a little ‘un-lived’ in to me.  Just a personal preference, I know others aren’t bothered.  A good choice Sandra, thanks for the intro.
Very informative intro. Sandra.  His landscapes are impressive.
Carol the first painting is a formation called The Chimney in Milford Sound. The second looks to me as if he was looking towards Mt Cook.

Thanks for the reply, Sandra. One which sent me searching for images and videos. Wow! nature has constructed many amazing views and seeing these mountain ranges from different angles, there's no exception there. Outstanding. Even though I was in bed at the time of viewing I found myself eyeing up my hiking boots.

You'd be able to hike in the area around Mt Cook, there are various hiking trails. You wouldn't be allowed ashore at Milford Sound though, and in that area there are very few places one could even go ashore as the cliffs are steep right down to the water. You'd have to view it from what I am sure is a pretty pricey boat trip.
I've never taken a flight to other countries, and never wanted to, but this is something to consider doing. I don't think there's anything to do with tourism that isn't pricey, these days :)
Thanks Sandra, impressive landscapes and I particularly like this one, though not entirely sure what the background is? Is it all sky or mountains? Carol, my granddaughter flew to NZ not long ago. It’s a wonderful country with dramatic scenery but a very long flight from here!
The background came across to me as a showery squall over the mountains, we all see things differently :) I'm sure your granddaughter had many wonderful photos and many stories to tell. I can imaging the time it takes to get there and then getting to where you want to be, but worth the travel. First step taken, have got a renewal form for my passport, its a start.
Well done Carol! I also recommend a bungee jump which she did, (definitely not for me but she loved it). 😳 Showery squall? Yes I did wonder, could well be.
