Really impressive work. I too like his monochrome work but I love the coloured one of the four posted above.
The latest ones posted are even better than the first selection.  An inspiration!
That’s what we’re here for to inspire you good folk .  Anthony Avery 1946- 2023, was a British artist born in Malvern close to the Welsh border, who was  known as an impressionist using watercolour. Often described as a painter’s painter his brushwork is captivating capturing a spontaneous moment in time, using dappled light in the traditional impressionist techniques. Sadly not a great deal of information, well I can’t find much about him , hopefully one of you might be able to build on the introduction. I’ve been a bit greedy choosing his work as there are so many fine examples , hope you enjoy my selection.

Thank you for indulging your greed!   He had a lovely touch - gone too soon, as well: 77 is no age these days (if you're 75 you have a vested interested in insisting on that)... I couldn't find much about him either, but will try again in the dewy light of dawn...
Died of oesophogeal cancer, it seems.  He had a Facebook page which is well worth a look; and clearly lived a rewarding life, with a loved family.
Beautiful paintings Paul, a lovely delicate touch, beautiful colours. I'll look and see what I can find although I doubt I'll do any better than you and Robert.  Quite agree with you Robert, 77 is no age at all these days (especially if you are nearly 81!).
Painterly scenes, I particularly like the first and sixth of your posts, Dixie, tranquil comes to mind. I agree, also, Sandra, 77 is no age. I'm still going strong and hope to do so for many years to come.
Fine watercolours Dixie, and my favourite is the last. I’m also a member of the “wrong side of 70” club! Let’s keep going folks. Incidentally am I the only one to be annoyed by the latest competition pop up! 😞
Let’s get this straight there isn’t a wrong side of seventy , it’s the right side of a hundred. More people are taking to art in the latter part of life now , not purely painting but variety of things, certainly make the grey matter work for you most also say it’s more of a return as family and work got in the way . As to this artist his work is extremely good, his ability to create such excellent washes etc is down to hard work and dedication to develop his skills.
Tessa, I have found the competition pop up extremely irritating today, especially on the phone as it obscures the whole page. What with that and the AI thing, I have almost thrown in the towel.
I wouldnt mind if it popped up just the once, but it happens again when you move to different sections
Irritating and annoying! I thought if I put an entry in it might not reappear- apparently not. 😞
