Two very skilled artists, Paul and Jenny you do a great job introducing us to such a range of art. Of Paul's selection my favourite was the second one too.

Although Blamire is obviously a very skilled and clever artist, his paintings are a little to photographic for my taste.The one with the bridge shown by Paul, is showing signs of the brushmarks (except on the water) which I prefer. Never the less a very talented artist.

I've been some time sorting my thoughts about the bird paintings shown of Heidi Langridge. Over all I quite like them. The birds are well observed and well painted. The backgrounds are obviously very bright and full of colour. I just feel that some are thought out and work better with the birds than others.

As others have said, Blamire's work is exceptionally skilful, it would certainly look good on any wall.  But.....it's hard to find an example that hasn't been shown already and which would stand out from the selections above.  It's almost as though if you have seen one, then you have seen them all, which is a great shame given the artist's undoubted talent.

Re. the work of Blamire. Unfortunately the image appears a bit pixelated and it’s hard to see the detail, which is essentially what he’s about (well not only). They’re impressive but I suspect I’d get a little bored with them very quickly.

I've been offline  quite a bit in the  last week or so, so missed these until, obviously, today: I like both of these artists, and most of the birds illustrated by Langridge are regular visitors to our bird-feeder - the paintings capture their liveliness; I was initially - shall we say surprised, by the backgrounds but soon got accustomed to them and saw their point.  Blamires is a very different artist, as is readily apparent: a couple of his look like knife paintings - I like those just as much as his normal brushwork; that is, some more than others in both categories; he goes from strong tonal contrasts to smooth blending and even light; he's lucky in his access to magnificent scenery, but of course - it's what you do with it that counts; and on the whole, he does a damn' fine job. Could one get a bit bored by Blamires.... oh jaded, jaded!  But yes; one could.... especially if one visited an exhibition of his work, perhaps.  There's only so many ways you can paint the Lake District before the scenery overwhelms your powers of invention and creation.... but a single Blamires on my wall would  be very acceptable.
