They are packed with interest, and of great appeal to children.  Many fine artists have illustrated children’s books, and this skilful lady is another.
I greatly admire the art of Charles Tunnicliffe. He worked with just a sketchbook and a pair of binoculars out on location. From that he created his bird illustrations and paintings. No camera, no computer. His master drawings are fabulous drawn from dead birds in his studio. His work knocks me out
John, I don’t think we’ve already looked at Charles Tunnicliffe in the Inspirations thread, although I may be wrong as we’ve covered so many since it started - if we haven’t (Paul can check) why don’t you offer to do an introduction to him.
I will get some images together and do a little write up. Thanks for that Jenny.
John it will be a while before we can feature him but I will add him to the current list and let you know the date.
No hurry as i have become busy right know. Thank you
I did say I would add some of his wife’s artwork, Gillian Dolby is an illustrator and has illustrated quite a few book , some for the Ladybird series, her work is so different to her husband’s, I actually like it despite it being aimed predominantly at children, ok I’m a big child . Those are great - there’s something really charming about that style, definitely not just for kids
