Reading and looking at these, I realize I've not done a full still life - i.e. in colour, with paint - for some 60 years: I did a good few when I was very much younger, in  order to learn  about volume and shading; and have probably forgotten some of that which I learned.  Time for another, possibly - though the genre doesn't excite me - enough to actually DO it, that is.   There are some fine examples up above though; and for anyone  learning to paint (obviously we all are, but real beginners I mean) still life is a very useful discipline, which some, like Marjorie, and Dennis Spicer (currently the maestro of birds' nests, which you can find on Facebook) continue to pursue out of love.
The highlight for me so far is Marjorie’s own work , it’s superb and so well painted. A few very old pieces that I found on the internet, the items chosen for the painting are still in some cases everyday things , well maybe not the skull.
