Welcome to this weeks thread , I had intended to post a list of  artists to be featured over the next couple of months but unfortunately other thing have taken up my time .  This weeks featuring artists are: Alison Ingram and Nancy Bailey . Jenny  will open the week with her introduction to Nancy Bailey. It’s nice to have Jenny back co- working on thread after stewarding at an exhibition she was taking part in , hope it went well Jenny. On Wednesday I will introduce my chosen artist Nancy Bailey.  Have a good week and enjoy your art , hope you get time for painting etc in between Christmas shopping etc .
ALISON INGRAM, an international wildlife artist, was born in 1968 in Horsham, West Sussex, and at an early age  developed a keen interest in the wildlife she encountered and the countryside in which she lived.  She has had a lifelong passion for painting red deer and lives by Warnham Deer Park which provides plenty of inspiration and unique encounters with wildlife. Originally a traditional wildlife artist, she had a change of style in 1999, moving to a more experimental abstract style of painting when she was drawn to the work of the German expressionist artist Franz Marc, renowned for his images of brightly coloured animals. “My painting process is the same for all my work, starting with reference photos and sketches to come up with a composition, trace an outline and start painting.  It’s intuitive, I don’t plan anything other than the initial composition of the birds or wildlife, and the finished painting is very different to the initial painting which is loose and more traditional.  It’s a long process.”  She works in oil on canvas or board. She is a regular exhibitor with the Society of Wildlife Artists, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge and is a regular artist in residence at Nature in Art, Gloucester.  She has exhibited at the national wildlife gallery in the Netherlands and is a signature member of the Society of Animal Artists, America.

Most animal artists paint them realistically, which I like, but it's nice to see someone doing it differently.  I like her work very much.  I see she calls it 'abstract animal art'.
I really like this work and am fascinated by the way she integrates her animals and their movement into the background. The more I look the more I see. You have also reminded me about Nature in Art which I have visited but not recently. Maybe in the New Year. It’s a lovely set up. Thanks Jenny and welcome back. Hope the exhibition went well.
When I read 'international wildlife artist' I felt myself starting to switch off, and then I saw the artwork.  These really are something quite different.  Looking on-line, my eye was caught by these two.  The second one, a peacock displaying takes the abstraction to the next level.
Thanks, Tessa.  I also find her work fascinating - the lines and blocks of colour are so clean edged I thought at first it might be digital.  No wonder she says it’s a long process!  (Yes, the exhibitions went well, thanks, but they’re hard work and the long stewarding sessions are tiring - got a break now until April, so must get painting again.)

Thanks for the introduction Jenny , great information about the artist and a superb selection of her paintings.
Some more of her colourful work.
A few more from me I remember many years ago on a visit to my brother in laws farm, watching badgers play in the evening light. Art has the ability to bring back such memories. We also had a very springy springer spaniel so this reminds me also of her- movement so well captured. Also living in the Cotswolds we see numerous red kites drifting above the roads and fields. I understand they are rare to see in some areas but certainly not here. Again great movement observed and painted.
I selected several paintings by Alison that I really liked and posted them two days ago , yet nothing has appeared, twice this week thst it’s happened can nay be gremlins or finger trouble. Any onwards with my choice of artist I came across Nancy Bailey’s artwork earlier this year when I was studying for my art history diploma  Nancy Bailey , 1913 - 2012. Was a British maritime artist, born in the West  Country and began her career with a burgeoning interest in photography. She developed a deep understanding of the dynamics of light and nature she would later at the age of 50 translate into paintings . Her work is characterised by the focus on beachside landscapes of the Cornish countryside, she worked predominantly with palette knives to achieve her unique style. I hope you enjoy the selection I have made , and find more online to share.
