Sorry I’m a bit late posting this today, I foolishly pressed the wrong moderators button and banned myself , fortunately back up,and running with the help of Alan and the Admin  Team.  Jackson Lee Nesbett  1913 - 2008, was an American printmaker, teacher, painter and Ad executive . Born in McAlester Oklahoma and worked for his father’s printing business unit 1931 when he enrolled in the University of Oklahoma Norman. After two years in Norman he enrolled at Kansas City Art Institute off and on from 1933-41. He befriended Thomas Hart Benton one of his Professors and they would travel and sketch together. When financial necessity ( in large caused by he popularity of modernist art) forced him to give up his art for a successful career in the advertising industry he did not speak to Benton fir several years out of embarrassment. Nevertheless Benton and his wife Rita always considered Nesbett to be one of his finest students.  I hope you enjoy my selection of his work.
What splendid work.  Interesting that Thomas Hart Benson was his tutor and friend.  I can see Benson’s influence, he painted similar scenes.  Oddly enough Benson also taught Jackson Pollock, who became an abstract expressionist.
Next weeks featuring artists are , Anna Wilson and Anthony Amos .
