Welcome to this weekends bonus artist thread , this weekend in featuring two artist sister ,Winifred and Alison McKenzie. I will start with Winifred as it was whilst researching her artwork that I discovered her sister was also and artist .
Winifred McKenzie 1905- 2001 Born in Bombay and raised in Scotland from 1913. She studied at Glasgow School of Art , where she became particularly interested in coloured woodcuts. The McKenzie family moved to London in 1930 where Winifred studied at Grosvener School of Art with her sister Alison .
The McKenzie family moved to St Andrews in 1940 , and after the war Winifred was appointed as a lecturer at the Dundee College of Art, sharing the jibe with her sister , she soon established wood engraving classes at the college.
After relinquishing her teaching post in 1957 , Winifred continued to paint until the age of ninety.
I will introduce Alison’s artwork on Saturday evening in the meantime I hope you enjoy my selection of Winifred’s work.

The second part of the story, Alison McKenzie 1907-1982, was a British artist who was both a painter and printmaker.
I haven’t done a full bio as there is a very good one on Wikipedia if you want to read more about her .
I’m having to be careful as the internet is throwing up some of her sisters work and it gets confusing as they are very similar in appearance.
