Welcome to this weeks thread ,the featuring artists this week are : Shiihashi Kazuko and Dennis John Hanceri. Jenny will open the week with her introduction to Shiihashi Kazuko and on Wednesday I will introduce Dennis John Hanceri. Hope you will join us and find some artwork from both artist that you like .
SHIIHASHI KAZUKO, born 1954, lives and works in Tokyo.  For several years she produced kimono designs, employing the traditional Japanese dyeing technique of Yuzen.  It was then that she discovered natural pigments and the materials used in traditional Japanese painting.  The shift from decorative art to fine art evolved naturally, evidence that in Japan the distinction between artists and craftsmen is fluid.  She accentuates the connection between nature and art that is fundamental to the Japanese aesthetic. Her works are made of Japanese handmade paper, crushed, gilded and painted, then spread on identical wood panels (90 x 30 cm) which, when assembled, vary between lengths of 1.2 and 3 metres.  This gives her work a very textural look and her use of natural mineral pigments adds to the jewel-like quality of her paintings.
Thanks Jenny , her work is really interesting, I’m taking as much notice of the background not only the actual painted images . Amazing texture to then , I’d find it difficult on such a rough surface, will look out for some more of her work.
How beautiful are these? Thanks Jenny, will look at more of her work. . I have chosen these together with her explanation of her work which reads like poetry!

I like this traditional Nihonga style Jenny. Especially the Magnolia tree and the Sunflowers. There is a natural flow and balance to her work. No Western influence keeping this body of work, traditional yet modern making it unique.
Another superb artist.  I tend to like Japanese art in general, and this lady's work is sublime.  Rich colourful decorative art.  It hits all the right buttons for me.
Some I particularly like, I’ve included a photo of the artist with one of her paintings to show the size of some of the work she produces.
They are all so good.  The fourth of Paul's selection above is breathtaking.
Some more of her beautiful work.
Gorgeous! Those irises remind me of Sylvia’s lovely work.
Last few from me……
Such beautiful work. Gorgeous.
