I agree with Robert’s comments. I have looked, enjoyed some, and no more than that. Whilst I can appreciate his undoubted skills, his work for whatever reason, doesn’t appeal to me, maybe a bit too slick and perfect? I was thinking recently, that we have looked at an amazing collection of varied art in these regular discussions and I’m grateful for that. Like Robert I had never heard of this artist and wouldn’t have found him if you hadn’t introduced him with such detail so thank you for that.
Hubby was in hospital for an op yesterday and home today, so mind on other things!

Quite so, Robert and Tessa. We see a lot of art on these threads. You can’t like it all. This artist would appeal to those who like art deco and caricatures (I thought)…maybe that’s a niche audience, if so, I’m in it.
When I saw no one had commented for 10 hours, I took that to mean that anyone interested had said their piece. That being so, there was no point in posting more. That would be like talking to myself, and lord knows I do enough of that already.
I’m scheduled for 2 more threads. They’ll be ‘niche’ artists too, and may well be wrapped up early too.

You might be right about the weather as well Lew! I know myself how disappointing it is when you’ve put the work in to prepare these pieces, and there doesn’t seem much interest, and I’m sure from previous comments that many people look in, they just don’t get round to joinbig in the discussion for whatever reason. I do think the Forum has lost a bit of its buzz over the last few months, and wondered if partly because of the amount of spam we were/are getting which has certainly put me off at times.
Anyhow the saying is…
Keep on keeping on!

Yes please do keep on going, I too understand the frustration of putting in the work for little comments, but it’s the few who find the work interesting even if it’s not their particular taste that makes it worth while . I think he is a fascinating artist and one o would never have looked at , that’s what makes it worth it Lew we do look and learn and that’s a great thing. I like that bring niche artist to our attention as as a restful I have seen some fantastic artwork posted in your threads from your chosen artist work that I would ever have seen otherwise.

Much to do with the weather, we've had glorious dry spring, especially compared to last years washout, I've been taking every opportunity to get ahead with gardening, so haven't even lifted my own paintbrush.
Some of the 'inspirations' have not been to my taste. If the artist is living, I tend to think ... if I can't say anything positive...say nothing at all. It is quite difficult being an honest critic if you don't have the vocabulary. But if there's something that really strikes me, I find it easier to chime in.

It is difficult to gauge how many people actually look at these postings and do not make a comment. I suspect if there was a counter, like there is on gallery postings, it might be an eye opener. By way of example, Lew's latest gallery posting has had (at the time of writing) 45 views, with only 12 people making a comment. I suspect the situation with 'Inspiration from Artists' would show a higher ratio of views to comments. After all it is fairly easy to say 'excellent' or 'great work' in response to a gallery post, put finding other examples of an artist's work and/or making meaningful comments takes a little more effort. So please, keep on keeping on, one can learn something even from artists whose painting don't move you.

Bit late I’m afraid as I’ve been making the best of the weather and painting my garage doors (literally ), won’t be on the gallery .
My choice of artist this week is from Norfolk an area I know well having I’ve for ten years on the Norfolk , Suffolk border.
Colin Burns ( sometimes appears as Colin W) , is a British contemporary artist born in 1944 and grew up in a Norfolk seaside town. From the age of seven he began painting landscapes and sunsets , as a nine year old he started winning prizes at school. He became more and more involved in painting and began observing the wonders of nature.
Whilst walking in the countryside he uses sketch’s and photographs as reference material , later using what he calls his photographic eye to paint the final scene .
I hope you enjoy his artwork and the selection I have

There is something very peaceful about his work, especially his Norfolk landscapes. I like them though they are not the kind of art I'd hang on my walls - I do wonder if he has a set of flying ducks on his wall at home. I chose this one because it put me in mind of classic Dutch landscapes, Jongkind in particular.
