Welcome to this weekends bonus artist thread , my choice of artist this week is . Sir Muirhead Bone 1876-1953 was a Scottish etcher and watercolourist who became know for his depiction of industrial and architectural subjects and his work as a war artist in both world wars .
Born in Patrick, Glasgow where his father was a journalist both he and his siblings attended the local Board School and were placed in apprenticeships at the age of fourteen. Muirhead was initially apprenticed as a painter of porcelain and later as a architects draughtsman he completed his four year apprenticeship before turning to mart .
There is a very good Bio on Wikipedia.
Whist he is know fir both his etchings and his watercolour work I’ve concentrated on this etchings and some sketches done during the WW1 .
Do have a look at his work on line and pick out any you particular like.

I was intrigued by the last of Paul's images, the gentleman who looks like Sean Connery seated at a desk. The signature caught my attention but the issue was resolved by the wikipedia biography, it would appear to be an etching of Muirhead Bone by Francis Dodd. (note both Bone and Connery were knighted)
I am not a great fan, but I can't help but admire the skill and detail, especially as some of his war work must have been done under somewhat less than ideal conditions. The drawing below is of the Great Crater at Athies. The yellow background on this image seems to bring out the detail better though other sources suggest the original was more likely to have been charcoal on plain paper.
