Once again, as with the previous artist, I'm finding the woodcuts more appealing than the conventional paintings.  An interesting intro too, wealthy people living the 'simple' life.  I'm reminded of the Bloomsbury Group, living the 'bohemian' life.....with servants.  How the other half live, ehh?  Just plain jealousy on my part. Anyone who can do the work necessary for woodcut prints has my admiration.   This thread series has produced some mind-blowing work, but I find myself lukewarm about these two artists.   But we all like different things, maybe I'm in the minority here.
I also find his woodcuts more interesting than his paintings which don’t really appeal to me, except perhaps with the exception of the last one posted above by Paul (which reminds me a little of Cezanne’s style and colours). We did briefly touch on this artist under the recent Railway Posters thread and I really liked his poster advertising Kent, although as a stand-alone painting maybe it wouldn’t be so interesting.

I recall his posters from the thread Jenny and at the time I thought thst I might not post his work but decided to do so . Some more of his paintings I still prefer his engravings, the last two paintings I quite like but it’s the subject matter I think ..
Next week’s artists are Michael Taylor and Gordon Mortenson .
