¡Welcome to this weekends thread my choice of bonus artis this week is :
Alexander Roy Gibson 1880-1969, born in Kilsyth Stirlingshire his father was a master grocer in Kilsyth.
At his marriage in 1910 he described himself as a painter and was by the an amateur artist, he turned professional after being injured in WW1 whilst serving in the Royal Field Artillery.
He mainly painted topographical and rural scenes especially around Kilsyth , Fife and Ayrshire, Gibson used his brothers photography shop to sell his paintings .
He was a regular visitor to Galloway where he dated with his relatives the Chartres family in many summer visits to Castle Douglas and visits to Kircudbright.
Gibson flourished as and artist between1912 and 1957 he regularly exhibited work in Liverpool as well,as the royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Watercolour Society.
