¡Welcome to this weekends thread my choice of bonus artis this week is : Alexander Roy Gibson 1880-1969, born in Kilsyth Stirlingshire his father was a master grocer in Kilsyth. At his marriage in 1910 he described himself as a painter and was by the an amateur artist, he turned professional after being injured in WW1 whilst serving in the Royal Field Artillery.  He mainly painted topographical and rural scenes especially around Kilsyth , Fife and Ayrshire, Gibson used his brothers photography shop to sell his paintings . He was a regular visitor to Galloway where he dated with his relatives the Chartres  family in many summer visits to Castle Douglas and visits to Kircudbright. Gibson flourished as and artist between1912 and 1957 he regularly exhibited work in Liverpool as well,as the royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Watercolour Society. Another discovery -- I wasn't aware of Gibson's work.  I think it might divide opinion:  I like it, though judging just from these few paintings it might be thought that he took the limited palette idea a bit too literally.  I'll see what I can find online, though.
He produced some fine work. I also wasn’t aware of him and not able to find a great deal apart from what Dixie has already posted. Good to see, especially his drawings.
I rather like his paintings with a more limited palette.  A couple more I’ve found - not sure why the first image has posted so small, but couldn’t find a better copy.

His limited palette is interesting.  Even when he burst into colour it was with a degree of restraint.
A few more there isn’t a lot of his work online.
