I was a little confused….the Laing Art Gallery has a few Grimshaws, which I’ve seen and admired. I now realise this was J. H. Grimshaw’s son, Louis. The following info is interesting.

I like the brightness of the most recent one (Tony's). Up in a cupboard I have two small framed reproductions of the Liverpool one and one of the other cityscapes.  I was very keen on him for a while.  Will hunt out more of his brighter pieces, of which I wasn't aware.

Some years ago I visited a Whistler exhibition - interesting that Whistler and Grimshaw worked in the same studio - Whistler’s nocturnes , especially of the Thames, are very similar.
