Welcome to this weekends bonus artist thread as a Crawshaw this week I thought I would keep it in the family and feature : Donna Crawshaw , born in Woking in Surrey in 1960 and is the daughter of Alwyn Crawshaw . Donna became a professional artist ar the age of 17 and is know for her distinctive animal paintings . She now lives in the Brecon Beacons ,her choice of media incudes acrylics, watercolours and pastel. I hope you enjoy my selection of her artwork.
Very accomplished artist. I do like the sheep especially.
You couldn't really have asked for better teachers than Alwyn and June, could you?  And Donna has very plainly benefited from their example.  So the page of history turns, he said grandiloquently, and the baton is passed on to the next generation.
I also especially like the sheep, and the pony, although perhaps the pony looks a little too photorealistic.  This collie is lovely, with a slightly more painterly style.

That’s a really good choice Jenny  I agree it’s more painterly I live the colours she has used on the white areas .
I don't mind realism - but it's got to be very well done; which the pony was.  The star painting for me here, though, is the Blue Tractor - we would know, being painters ourselves, just how many intelligent techniques have been deployed here, to paint the chooks, especially the rooster perched on the tractor, while making it PART of the painting, not a study in itself; the way the light through the trees is achieved, basically by cutting in, the touches of violet in the foreground soil, the "lost and found" edges - all of these touches were deliberate choices, informed by good teaching no doubt, and also by the exercise of skilled, experienced judgement. The Collie is also very good - showing his wolf ancestry in his unwavering gaze; not to mention his teeth; small wonder that sheep would do as he told them.
Some more of her paintings I love the horses and the butterfly on the rusty metal .
What a wonderful artist. I've just had a look through her work and admire it very much.
